Above are some screenshots as I worked on the preliminary design for this Houston Heights bungalow.

The design wishes for this 1,800sf Houston Heights Bungalow Renovation were: To move the bedrooms to the second floor while renovating the first floor for the new master suite.

The first step is to combine the survey, site pictures and measurements into an approximate building layout and model. From there I created three new rough plan layouts.

Design 1 or D-1 is a rough layout of the design guidelines given to us by the client. The first floor laid out fine but the second-floor felt a little too massive in the 3D perspectives.

In Design 2/ D-2, I played with moving the addition back a little so that the addition doesn’t feel so overpowering.

In Design3/ D-3, I played around with what the building and architectural details of the home would would give. Tring to keep balance and make the home and addition feel original.

These rough designs are off to the client for their review and comments on the different possibilities for their new home.
